A Prayer to Meditate on God’s Phrase
By Laura Bailey

“Blessed is the a single who does not stroll in move with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the business of mockers, but whose delight is in the regulation of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and evening.” – Psalms 1:1-2, NIV

This summer time, our pastor inspired our church to read the Psalms together. At initial, I was dissatisfied we would not be studying 1 of the Bible’s far more “theologically deeper” books. However, as I opened my studying system and turned to the 1st Psalm, the Holy Spirit promptly pricked my heart.

The opening verse of Psalms is packed with so significantly Fact its information is straightforward, timeless, and jam-packed with theology for Christians. Mainly credited as written by King David, this Psalm reminds us any person who isn’t going to make it possible for by themselves to be swayed by worldly influences is blessed. Blessings continually appear to individuals who decide on to stroll in the way of the Lord, disassociate from ungodly influences, and do not have interaction in foolish communicate.

Dwelling a righteous daily life has often been tricky. Just about every day we must opt for which master we will surrender to, ourselves or God. There is a non secular battle that wages all close to us, and every working day is a struggle to go after holiness. Psalm 1 presents guidelines to flee temptation. Rather, we should delight in the law of the Lord and meditate on it working day and evening. The Hebrew word for delight in this textual content signifies “to bend.” This verse tells us the blessed man or woman bends to God’s will. Instead of rigidly pursuing their personal route, the righteous are adaptable and willing to permit the Lord and His laws to direct their paths. They do not merely study Scripture they put its truths into observe, enabling their lives to be going for walks testimonies to the Gospel.

As believers, we meditate on God’s phrase. What do you imagine of when you believe about meditating? I often assumed this experienced to transpire in a darkish, peaceful home, blocking off hrs to sit and pray to God. But that is not what this verse is implying. Most of us don’t have the margin to meditate like this. Fortunately, biblical mediation means we fill our minds with Scripture so God’s text permeate our views as we go about our life. Even though we sit at the visitors light, we consider about God’s goodness. As we wait in the check out-out line, we remember the fruits of the spirit. When cooking meal, we ponder what it suggests to humble ourselves. Meditating on God’s phrases is a each day commitment to renewing our minds, conforming our views and wants to the Lord, and residing a lifestyle influenced by biblical fact.

Will not make the exact mistake as me, discounting the depth of the Psalms since of the psychological emphasis or conversational tone. the Psalms are a battle cry for believers living in a fallen globe. If you, like me, normally breeze as a result of the Psalms, permit me inspire you to meditate on this e book as you search for to reject the world’s techniques and cover God’s terms in your coronary heart.

Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, thank you for providing us the Bible so we can find out your legislation and additional about You. Thank you for instructing us on residing our life and sharing your lots of characteristics, inviting us into a private romance with you. We question that you guard our hearts and enable us flee temptation, clinging to Your Truth of the matter.

Allow us not be fooled we are incapable of dabbling in sin allow us not tumble for the enemy’s lies. We ask that when we do drop shorter, you should forgive us. Grant us mercy when we will not ought to have it, and increase us grace. Thank You for offering the e-book of Psalms to information and direct our lives. Could we keep every single phrase near, along with every word in the Scriptures. We adore You, Lord thank You for your lots of blessings. In Jesus’ title, Amen.
