A Prayer about the Energy of Prayer
By Jessica Van Roekel
“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may possibly give you the spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the understanding of him, having the eyes of your coronary heart enlightened, that you could know what is the hope to which he has identified as you, what are the riches of his wonderful inheritance in the saints and what is the immeasurable greatness of his electric power toward us who feel, in accordance to the operating of his excellent may that he labored in Christ when he elevated him from the dead and seated him at his suitable hand in the heavenly destinations.” – Ephesians 1:17-20 ESV
I had overlooked how to pray. It was my 1st Mothers In Prayer group and we bowed our heads and hearts just before the Lord to raise our young children to him. Tears leaked from my eyes as I sat listening to the other women of all ages pray for my kid. My pulse pounded in tune to my fast heart price as I sat humbled right before God. I had overlooked how strong prayer could be and I understood how I experienced succumbed to a fatalistic view on it.
Fatalism had crept into my coronary heart because of unanswered prayers, prayers prolonged waited for, and prayers that felt unheard. I had taken the thought of God’s sovereignty much too far and exchanged religion for the belief that God would do his will no matter whether I prayed or not. This led to me not praying or at least praying fewer than wholeheartedly.
In Paul’s prayer to the Ephesians, we discover God’s highest drive for each follower of Christ. He longs for us to know his Son improved, to obtain more knowledge, perception, comprehending, and to encounter greater electrical power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Forgetting to pray or offering up on prayer prospects us further absent from God’s heart for us.
The disciples lived and figured out from Jesus, and they even now experienced some confusion. They necessary the parables described to them. They could not quantify how Jesus did miraculous acts. At times he touched an individual, and their miracle occurred, or a person touched him and power flowed out of him. Other times he applied his spit to make mud to give sight and for blind men, sight came through a command. Still, God longs to give us a lot more knowledge about Jesus. Prayer is 1 way we can know him more.
In the ebook of Romans, we go through that hope does not disappoint us for the reason that hope is a man or woman and Jesus is his identify. And in Hebrews 11:1 we study that religion is the assurance of factors hoped for, of points not observed. What does Jesus want to do in our life? He can give us wisdom, insight, and knowledge, but we need to press in shut to him, to count on him, and to hope in him. Prayer grows our hope.
This existence is challenging. We encounter issues of various levels each day, weekly, month to month, or annually. Some of us wrestle with debilitating actual physical, emotional, or relational agony. We know we have the victory for the reason that Jesus says we do, but when it feels like we’re on the losing close of a every day fight with pain, that victory feels out of get to. But God. He tends to make a way for us to know him and his electricity. He gave us the Holy Spirit to information us and to enable us wander in electricity and victory.
Let’s pray:
Holy God,
Thank you for that you gave us prayer as a way to connect with you. Forgive me for dealing with it with carelessness. Forgive my fatalism. You extensive for me to pray in religion, believing and trusting that you will expose yourself to me. Will you open up my eyes to realize what’s going on in entrance of me and powering the scenes? Give me the energy of your Spirit so that I can believe that that my prayers issue. Pour out your wisdom on me so that I can know how to pray and what to pray. Your Spirit in me is the exact same Spirit that elevated Jesus Christ from the dead and I prolonged for you to circulation as a result of me continually so that I might be pure, refined, and prepared for your function for my lifetime. Thank you for hearing my prayer and loving me.
In Jesus’ title, Amen
