A Prayer for Assured Hope in the Storms of Life

“Therefore, do not toss absent your self-confidence, which has a wonderful reward.” – Hebrews 10:35, ESV.

Some videos have me sitting on the edge of my seat the total time. I appreciate the normal film arc of tale setting, increasing motion, climax, and resolution. Hallmark flicks are acknowledged for their common storyline, and we can be confirmed a satisfied ending. If only our life were being that basic. We can experience frozen in spot, fearful of the long run, and terrified of the present. There are days when it would seem we’re in a storm at sea without any way to navigate our way out of it. Riding it out is the only way by way of. The Apostle Paul survived storms and shipwrecks and did not lose his way even although it took three ships to get him from Caesarea to Rome. In these days sailors utilized the stars for steerage, but on this journey by ship, a fierce storm blew up. The powerful gale pressure winds forced them to use solid ropes to tie the ship jointly. Dim clouds lined the sunshine, moon, and stars for fourteen days. They threw away their cargo, which is like heading to the bank to withdraw a significant sum of dollars, ripping it up, and throwing it into the wind. The sailors did every thing they could consider of to endure but misplaced hope.

Storms of life generally result in our hearts to quake with anxiety and disappointment. At moments we see them on the horizon and other periods they strike instantly. These storms could be social, financial, actual physical, psychological, or non secular. They place terrific strain on us, and we usually dilemma our religion. But religion in God is the only factor that aids a believer during excellent problems. The Apostle Paul is a wonderful case in point for us. He faced imprisonment, shipwrecks, dying threats, poverty, and wonderful emotional distress. Nevertheless, he had immense faith and understood with assurance God would present rescue. God is with us. He doesn’t leave us to flounder. He would make a way feasible when we experience not possible cases. At occasions, he calms the storms, and other moments, he calms us.

There was a time when I plunged into a deep period of disappointment the place lifetime introduced no pleasure, and every thing appeared dim. I struggled with disappointment around the way God answered a prayer. My expectations of his guarantees did not match what I experienced. I envisioned God to line up with my needs and when he did not, I tumbled into a thorn bush of anger, cynicism, and doubt. The storm raged inward while I struggled in the darkness. The storyline of my everyday living did not match the standard delighted ending of my favourite motion pictures. In this storm, I did the only issue I could believe of—I browse God’s term, but when I closed my Bible, I forgot what I go through. So, I wrote Scripture verses on cards and tacked them up around my home. I understood the only way to navigate this inner storm was to fix my eyes on the Word of God for the reason that I couldn’t have confidence in my inner thoughts to information me. My emotions have been like the storm raging across the sea of the ship Paul uncovered himself on.

Like Paul in Acts 27:25, we can say, “Keep up your courage. . .for I have religion in God.” Our assured hope is found in a faith planted deep in being aware of God. To know him is to believe in his claims stand even when our expectations are unsuccessful. We can hold on to self-assured hope in the storms of daily life when we plant our assurance in who he is. He is our Bread of Lifestyle, Residing Water, and the Fantastic I Am. He is our anchor in the storm, our waymaker, and our shepherd. We can stand the storms of life if we do not toss absent our self confidence in him.

Holy God,

Thank you for remaining with me. You are wonderful and mighty, entire of compassion. You see me in my harm. I’m sorry for doubting your goodness to me in the middle of my storm. Please forgive me for turning away from hope in you due to the fact I simply cannot see you. Now, I select to hold onto assured hope in you due to the fact you promise to never ever depart me or forsake me. I’m going to feel and are living like it’s accurate. I rely on you to manual me through this storm and fill me with hope. In Jesus’ identify, Amen
